About Us

What we do...

  • For citizens, net-citizens and the community-at-large: OurSay.org gives you the chance to publicly question people in power about issues.
  • For politicians, decision makers and public figures: OurSay.org allows you to use online community engagement to better inform your decisions.
  • For organisations and businesses: OurSay.org improves improves public awareness of what you do and develops your organisation’s reputation.

What we create...

We are creating a growing community of people who participate in online forums debating political issues they care about. Members of the public register to join the OurSay Community. The OurSay Community proposes questions, discusses questions and then votes for questions they want answered by decision makers, politicians and public figures. The top-voted questions in each OurSay Forum are answered by the decision maker, politician or public figure in a live presentation. The video recording of the presentations are posted online, which concludes that particular OurSay Forum.

The OurSay Community

People find out about OurSay.org through word-of-mouth and social media. About 10% of the people who register post a question. The other 90% ‘spend’ seven votes on questions they want answered in each forum.

Our analysis shows that the OurSay Community is typically aged between 18 and 35, with a slight skew toward female. We know they are web savvy and typically use Facebook and Twitter. The registered users are from all over the country and, sometimes, overseas.

The OurSay Community is politically diverse and issues raised on the platform show a range of views and perspectives. Participants in OurSay Forums fall into two categories: leaders who ask and campaign on questions, and followers who ‘spend’ their seven votes on questions. There are also commentators who take the conversation further by posting comments under controversial questions.
