The Queensland Agenda
Campbell Newman participated in The Queensland Agenda OurSay in January, where you asked the questions in the lead up to the Queensland election. His responses to the three most popular submissions can be found on our blog at blog.oursay.org.
Just to clarify, I am asking Mr Newman if he will support the current Cross River Rail proposal with the same reference design assessed in the recent EIS: http://www.crossriverrail.qld.gov.au/
I'd also like to add to this. As the majority of Mr Newman's public comment to date suggests he does not support CRR in its current form, would he support it if Infrastructure Australia comes forward and recommends it and it receives Federal funding?
I would prefer Mr Newman supports CRR rather than the Cleveland Solution.
Why is it that infrastructure has to be centred on the city? Why not get the Redcliffe line done so that people in the outer reaches have the option of rail travel? Has anyone ever looked at what is lacking in regional cities?
In response to Sue: The Cross River Rail proposal will be especially beneficial for people living in outer SEQ areas such as the Sunshine and Gold Coasts, because it creates the extra network capacity to increase the frequency and speed of services to those places. The Redcliffe line is already underway and funds have been committed, mainly from the federal government: http://www.tmr.qld.gov.au/moretonbayrail
Sue: You've already been addressed on this, but the Redcliffe line (and other lines) can't run at the frequency they deserve if Cross River Rail isn't also built.
